It’s getting serious

The night before my interview for the job in Shanghai, I started panicking and thinking if I’m really willing to give up our life we have built up together in the UK. The next morning, I had to get up at 5 a.m. for the Skype interview, realising how difficult it would be to communicate with my friends and family in the future with the time zones being so different.

Once the interview was over, I felt the adrenaline and excitement of this job and moving to Shanghai. Suddenly it hit me – this is real!

All day, I felt like in a parallel universe, couldn’t focus on work or what anyone was talking about, with my head in this new life, in Shanghai.

Meanwhile, he had to made an official decision, as to whether accept or decline the job in the UK, that was pretty much his dream job. Having talked it over and over on the phone, messages and e-mails, he realised that moving to China is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we can’t refuse while I was frankly a bit shocked that he was even considering staying in the UK.

The decision was made, the job in the UK turned down and from now on we knew that We Are Going to Shanghai!
